Had a superb lunch at Brasserie James this week from their exciting new menu. All ingredients are seasonal and sourced locally. My starter was their warm homemade bread, served alongside two pots. One filled with herb butter and the other sundried tomato petso. The two combined gave a fantastic pungent, fruity zing. On to the omelette, quite literally brimming with ingredients. Red Onions, cheese, and ham. You can't go wrong with an omelette at lunch time and his didn't disappoint. The Manager enthused about the area (we agreed it was Balham and not Clapham!) and how they feel the effects of the recession are well and truly behind them. "We're in nappy valley here and are clients are very intelligent people who know what they like and what they want to eat. We just notice when it's school holidays because it's much quieter then". So sad I was in a rush and couldn't stay for the Valhrona and salt caramel chocolate fondant, honeycomb ice cream. Must go back. Must go back!!!

Brasserie James in Balham Hill is an extremely classy place to sit down for a truly sumptuous meal. They offer brunch, lunch and dinner menus, all of which consist of dishes cooked with the finest quality ingredients. A great place to treat someone special.
