Duke Of Devonshire

I'm 60, have lived in Balham for 24 years and consider the Devonshire to be easily the best pub in Balham. No sticky carpets and deafening din like the Bedford; no 18 year-olds necking alcopops like the Clarence; no hairy-****d sports 'fans' watching 60ft TV screens like the Jackdaw and 'Ruck'; and no down-and-outs drinking 15p pints like Wetherspoons! I do like the Nightingale too, though - traditional pub-going at its best.

New Decor
One of Balham's best pubs. The beer garden is the best in town for alfresco dining! It's all been 'done up' recently and so feels quite swanky. It also has quite a good menu but I much prefer to use it as a boozer than an eating place.
