Well, that's how Amazon has described the Mayor of Balham's book entitled My Name is Daphne Fairfax, published May 2009!  He's not Daphne Fairfax, nor is he the Major of Balham!  He is in fact our very own alternative comedian Arthur Smith and allegedly he's not really called Arthur either!

Arthur Smith has been doing Balham proud for a long time now, with two radio series under his belt going by the name of Arthur Smith's Balham Bash on Radio 4, he certainly is bigging it up for SW12.  A recent review of the book in the Independent finishes off saying 'Greenwich, Balham, Bermondsey - be proud of him'.  And I think we are!
