Chocolate Beer?!

Waitrose in Balham are stocking a brand of beer produced locally, here in London. Actually, David Ryan, Customer Services Manager in the Balham branch tells me it's brewed by the Meantime Brewing Company based in Greenwich. It's all part of Waitrose's policy of supporting the local community and that means local suppliers too.

Waitrose Balham
Meantime was founded by visionary Master Brewer, Alastair Hook, who gathered around him like-minded friends, family and his parents' dog to form a brewing company to help him realise his vision to connect with the British drinking public in a way that no one else was doing.
If you fancy making that connection before purchasing in Waitrose, you can try either the Chocolate, Coffee or the more traditional Helles Bier first at the Clarence Pub, 90-92 Balham High Road who stock it behind the bar!
Prost! Tell me how you get on!

I'm into Crabbies Ginger Beer at the moment - which incidentially, I also got in Waitrose! Saw it as a main sponsor of the Comedy Awards - so wouldn't have know it existed otherwise.

ReportWeirdest beer I ever had was a smoked beer from Norway at the Earl's Court beer festival a few years ago. It tasted, far more than one might imagine possible for a liquid, like smoke. Chocolate beer sounds weird too though!
