If you could ask God one question ...?

Christ Church in Balham have launched what they are calling  'Balham's Big Survey'.  Describing themselves as 'contemporary Anglican', supported by St Mary's and St John's and with the permission of the Bishop of Southwark. They are a group who practice at Chestnut Grove School.

They are asking people of Balham to spend a minute filling in an online response to the question.  'if you could ask God one question, and you knew it'd be answered, what would you ask?

It's all part of a week of events at Christ Church Balham.

On Wednesday 18 May they'll be an opportunity to present your question to a panel of experts - Question Time style - from scientific and theological backgrounds, including Rev Dr Steve Jeffery (Church Minister),  Martin Ayres and Deborah Stein.

Then on Sunday 22 May there are two further events, based around this survey.  At 10:30 am - the 2nd most popular question answered.  At 6:30pm - the Most popular question answered.

You could argue that, being hosted by Christ Church itself the debate could be severely swayed in one direction and in reality they are just looking to grow their brand of Anglicanism in Balham.  Or you could say that it's a genuine opportunity to work out - could there really be a God? - and welcome the fact that Christ Church are bringing this debate to the table.

You decide.

We don't mean to be irritating. Like a Pizza Company with with more to offer than a crusty base and a cheesy topping, we're just trying to get the word out! You don't have to be involved, that's your call. But you knew that, right?!

The one thing I'd like to ask is why people like this have to ram flyers about their 'surveys' through our letterboxes? If they want to chat to their sky fairy that's fine, but why should I be involved? ;-)
