If there's one thing you can say about Balham, it's that it's got the chill factor! Other than great independent restaurants a plenty, Balham's other USP would have to be as a place to unwind, destress, let it all go...... From Tuning Fork Therapy, to Colonics and Reiki, Waxing and a range of massages treatments if your body's in need of being looked after then I would say, you're spoilt for choice.

Serene Spa, at 55 Balham High Road have only been open for about 12 weeks but are already doing a roaring trade particularly because they take their last appointment at 9pm. Those evening appointments are very busy. I spoke to Tolani, their Beauty Therapist who was proud they offer a full mens service and a high proportion of their clients are male. She looks after the women and tells me that 95% of women are opting for a Brazillian waxing these days. This salon has the real deal traditional thai massagers and its own sauna and steam room.
Independent MindyBodySoul, with outlets both on Balham High Road and Ritherdon Road operate what they call an Urban Spa designed (in their own words) to 'relax and rejuvenate you'. They have won multiple awards in various categories - one of them marketing - and as such have a monthly newsletter frequently offering discounts and promotions. Get yourself signed up and this month they are offering 20% off facials at Ritherdon Road and 15% off luxury manicures and body treatments at Balham High Road.
TreatBalham, tucked inside Hildreth Mews is essentially treatment rooms run by self employed therapists. On a Thursday evening you can book in for Tuning Fork Therapy. Here's what that does. Bear with me. By simultaneously using two forks to generate pure fifth frequencies, specific organs, muscle groups, meridians and energy matrices (chakras) can be targeted, regulated and literally called back into proper function. Got it? There are, of course, all manner of other therapies and practitioners available.
The Chinese Clinic, at 93 Balham High Road, has a great offer. Specialising in acupuncture and acupressure massage, they offer an initial consultation and the first treatment free of charge. Subsequent treatments are £37.50 per half hour. If you're up for it, call 020 8772 0779 for more information.
Other places that come highly recommended by locals on Twitter are Me Time on Nightingale Lane, number 91 - just a couple of paces from the Nightingale Pub - and ReCentre at 260 Balham High Road. I'd still like to hear some feedback on the Balham Therapy Room.
