This year The Night Shift is linking arms with three young composers and setting off on a lap of Britain’s finest watering holes. Crowd- funded by fans of the event, The Night Shift Pub Crawl will be stopping in Bristol, Brighton and London for classical music, made with booze in mind.
In the ultimate break-out from the confines of the concert hall, both the Orchestra and, for the first time, the music it performs, puts the pub on a pedestal, working to entertain an audience that couldn’t be further from the usual.
The first stop of the tour is in Balham, in The Bedford. Composer Kate Whitley has written a string quartet that will be premiered alongside works by Haydn and are designed to arrest a pub’s clientele.
The Pub Tour is part of the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment’s Night Shift initiative, presenting classical music in an informal, rules-free setting.
