Wandsworth Council have launched a new service for local people to help you hold them to account. As part of their on-going drive to be as 'open a council as possible', they've created a new section of their website where people can judge their performance statistics against those of other London Councils

Wandsworth's On-line Stats
I eagerly checked the link 'Open Council' and one option I could analyse was how Wandsworth are doing on Household recycling rates (pic above) and found we are trailing behind many other London Boroughs with 26.7. For 'Total crime notified to the police', thankfully, that indicator for Wandsworth scored higher amongst other London Boroughs. Altogether there are over 100 different indicators to check, ranging from criteria like 'The Female mortality rate' to Local business growth year on year. All makes for interesting reading.
The analysis is a snap shot of data available in December 2011. For more information, contact Jon Evans on 020 8871 7815, or email jevans1@wandsworth.gov.uk
