Lisa Styles who works at Sainsbury's Balham has been busy raising money for Shine Charity. Lisa spent one of her entire shifts dressed as a banana to help support Shine during their awareness week; she got friends, family and colleagues to sponsor her. As well as being a banana for the day Lisa also got colleagues and friends to bake cakes for a cake sale she held in the canteen at work. From these two activities Lisa was able to raise an incredible £330! Thanks to Sainsbury's matched giving scheme called Local Heroes, Lisa, is able to increase the support they have given the charity with an additional £200. Sainsbury's Local Heroes scheme recognises colleagues who dedicate their spare time to local charity work. It helps them to support their own personal charities and make a difference in the local community. The scheme is now in its 10th year and has supported over 7500 colleague applications with almost £2 million in additional donations and Sainsbury's is keen to give more. Store Manager, Wayne Vidler, said, "We are very proud to have colleagues that are so dedicated to helping out in the local community. Lisa Styles is an inspiration to us all." Hannah Wysocki from Shine has expressed her gratitude; 'We rely on the hard work of fundraiser's like Lisa to be able to continue to provide our vital, life-changing support to everyone affected by spina bifida and hydrocephalus. To have this matched by Sainsbury's is an added bonus and we would like to thank everyone for their support.'
