Creative Writing Workshops with Chalk the Sun at Balham Bowls Club

SOoo, Balham People ... what about those New Year Resolutions?  Did you resolve to get creative? Start a new hobby? Develop your writing talents?  Well you are in luck.  Chalk the Sun are running some fabulous creative writing courses right here in Balham at the Balham Bowls Club.

Chalk the Sun are a group of lecturers, writers and editors offering creative writing courses and workshops in Balham.  Ardella and Jo, founding members of Chalk the Sun say "For two decades, we had enjoyed teaching and sharing our experience of writing and working in the media to help others fulfil their creative potential.

However, form-filling and bureaucracy in education were driving us insane so we decided get back to basics – talking, teaching, and sharing brilliant ideas with other imaginative people. We liked the notion of working next to a nice bar with comfy sofas too… and so did some of our talented colleagues who joined us."

Here's what's on offer for 2012:

Get Started, Keep Going £100

A four session course, offering an introduction to creative writing techniques for beginners and rusty writers, with useful tips on ways of working, scene setting, creating character and generating ideas. Get inspired. Mondays 7.00 – 9.30pm 23rd and 30th Jan, 20th and 27th February 2012  

 

Toolbox  – More Techniques £125

A 5 session course for new and more experienced writers who want to add to their writing repertoire. Wednesdays

7.00–9.30pm  18th January – 15th February 2012

Writers' Room Monthly Workshops £125 for 5, £225 for 10

A series of on-going monthly workshops.  Sign up for 5 or 10 and come when it suits you.  Ideal for people who want to experiment with different forms and ideas or those engaged in longer projects.  Learn new techniques, share your work, get professional feedback and receive inspirational tuition in between writing at home.  Saturdays 1- 4pm Mondays 7-9.30pm

Writing Children's Fiction – pre-school picture books to teen fiction and TV formats  £125

A comprehensive 4 session course on writing and editing children's picture books and early readers, pre-teen fiction, TV formats, episode writing, animation, and devising multi-platform concepts with publisher/editor Simona Sideri plus CBBC script editor Jonathan Wolfman and Gillian Corderoy, writer for Postman Pat and Wibbly Pig. Develop your ideas and learn new techniques. Covers all age categories

Writers' Room Children's Fiction monthly workshops £125 for 5, £225 for 10
