Balham loves Lavish Habit

Lavish Habit, Balham's Cafe Boutique (not boutique cafe) have only been open since Easter 2011, yet seem to be doing a roaring trade with local people certainly taking it to their hearts.  

It's a unique place.  Go in for a coffee and end up with a dress!  Go in for some gifts and end up having a coffee.  Nicola, the proprietor, tells me the balance of trade between gifts and cafe is about 50:50.  The weekend is particularly popular but today, a regular Tuesday in October, every table was taken.

During the next two weeks more and more stock will be arriving to meet the Christmas rush.  Nicola's desperate for more floor space and so will be borrowing from the showroom downstairs more retail space to display her wares.  Soon, they'll be opening on Thursday and Friday evenings late and offering Chai Tea and mulled wine as well as the usual teas and coffees.

Take a look here at some of the fabulous stuff you can buy.  It's unique and, even if you're not purchasing, it's lovely to sit amongst whilst taking some 'me' time.  For a while I can believe it's all part of my own front room.  High ceilings, lots of light, elcectic furniture and retro paraphanalia.  One day .....
